Judi!

Judi has been one of my best friends since I was 7 years old.    We lived across the street from each other until we each got married.    I was in her wedding, she in mine.   She married one of Dave's good friends and we've stayed in close touch through the years.   We were so excited that she was coming out for a visit, her first time in Arizona.

The three of us talked and laughed and ate and reminisced for two weeks.  We drove off road, through the desert, to show her one of our favorite activities, ate at Lake Pleasant, (a lake in the desert?), we drove up to Prescott to show her that the desert isn't all sand.....and we went to Palm Springs to jiggle in the hot tub, enjoy the beautiful scenery and the great restaurants there.

Taos added her to his "pod" and stuck close by when she wasn't feeling well.   We rented a small transport chair for her to make the long walk down to Scorpion Bay Marina easier and more fun.

We were able to rent the same Palm Springs house that we've used in the past.  Judi was supposed to join us there a few years ago, but it didn't work out, so we were happy to be able to recreate our aborted visit.     The home is located in a lovely quiet neighborhood, close to all we wanted to see and do.     Lots of sidewalks for Dave and Taos to do a bit of work.    All play and no work, ya know.....

The back yard is very private, surrounded by a tall, green hedge.   The pool and hot tub were perfect for us and Taos had plenty of place to explore and stretch his legs.

Judi preferred the pool; Dave and I preferred the jiggly hot tub, especially Dave the Lizard.....

a hot and jiggly Happy Hour

Taos loved it all, except when his ball fell into the pool.

help?

Sleeping is high on his list, once everyone is settled and accounted for.

We enjoyed some of our favorite restaurants and enjoyed the leftovers in our nice dining room.    Enjoyed the luxury of time with our good friend.

Judi flew home last week, and we all miss her.

Here's another girl we miss.....

post Halloween fun?

Hmmmm....how did he get here?    My computer gremlin (or blogger gremlin) decided you needed to see Taos making eye contact with a parking lot burro at Lake Pleasant.

  1. Hi Sue…what a very nice visit with a very dear friend. Isn’t it just so much fun to share with folks the things you love about where you live…especially when that friend has never been to Arizona. And oh my, to have the time and means to go to Palm Springs and share even more favorites. You could absolutely write a book just on fine dining experiences…that’s so cool! I’m with Judi, the pool wins out every time! And what a real trouper Taos is. He just seems so at home and happy wherever he is with you and Dave! And last, but so not least are those sweet curls! Annie is growing up too fast!

    2. You're right Gay....it's always fun to show people what Arizona really has to offer, not just a flat, sandy desert as lots of people imagine! Taos seems to adjust and enjoy whatever we expose him to, a wonderful quality I think. Annie just keeps growing and changing.....except for those little curls!

    1. He really is HUGE. The Pano (aka growing pains) seems to have abated. We hope it's over and that he's finished growing!

  3. Great photos of your time with Judi. I know the three of you never run out conversation and laughs. Glad she was able to make the trip this year. That photo of Taos sleeping by the pool with his paw over the edge is too cute. Annie is getting so big and her curly hair is quite long. Cutest smile:)

    1. You're right Pam, we did have a wonderful time even with the health challenges. Taos enjoyed having her with us and his time beside the pool. Annie continues to grow and change every day it seems!

  4. We took one of the last paddle boat rides on the Dolly from the Scorpion Bay Marina. The Dolly is now on Canyon Lake, where we've enjoyed a couple more excursions.
Fran and I were married in Palm Springs, it was a lot more of a village 40 years age!
So nice to have long time friends reunite, even for a shot time.
And Annie ... Just so dang cute!

    1. I remember that you were married in PS. I think it was always a "destination" for fun in the sun! We've taken that boat ride on Canyon Lake also, such an unexpected pleasure to find water in the desert. Annie....what an I say?

  5. Joy, joy! What great fun for all of you in Arizona and PS. Love that you were able to get the same house and that it was warm enough for all to enjoy the pool and spa. Taos is so handsome! Love the pic of he and Dave on the floor :-) Annie is just toooo precious.

  6. Well, I love that you had such a refreshing visit with Judi BUT, I gotta say, I LOVE Taos doing zoomies around the pool! He is the absolutely BEST dog and will be a stellar addition of Guide Dogs as he progresses in training. You've given him such a beautiful start in his work-life and this Blog will be an interesting, endearing and informative read for his Next Person. What a lovely visit with Judi -- always so good to see our historical friends in life. We're busy thinking about 2025. Cindy

    1. I only included one zoomie picture, but we were often afraid we'd have to fish him out of the pool! I agree, time spent with good friends is golden.

  8. That is so cool to have a friend from that long ago visit you. The photos of your visit are great! That Taos--such a good boy! The photo of Dave and Taos in front of the fireplace is my favorite! Just an all around perfect visit! I don't know how many of our visitors have said, "we didn't know Arizona looked like this!"

  11. How wonderful that Judi was able to come and spend a couple of weeks with you guys. I love that you have been friends since childhood and still stay connected. You are the best hosts! You packed so much into two weeks, but it all seems so relaxing in the way you write about it. You crack me up with your "hot and jiggly" happy hour! As always, Taos is such a good boy...and Annie is darling in her cape, haha! Happy Thanksgiving, dear friends. ❤️

    1. I tried not to jam too much into our time together, leaving a day of rest in between things, but it was hard....so much to show and do! Hot and Jiggly is good, right? especially with a glass of wine. One of the things we're thankful for this Thanksgiving, is your friendship. Wish we could say it to your faces....sigh.

  12. I bet Judi had a great time with her first time in the desert and I bet the conversation were always long. Taos is a well rounded future guide dog, and whoever gets him will be very fortunate. Ohh, that Annie is so adorable.

  13. "Hot and jiggly" and pool time are two reasons we adore Palm Springs! I don't blame you for wanting to take your lifelong best friend with the best name in the world there. Plus burros! Plus Taos! Plus all the greatness that you always find and share with your warm hearts and happy spirits. Happy Thanksgiving!
