Home again

We're home!   We're just about settled, palm trees trimmed up a bit, stones raked, Beluga emptied, groceries restocked, house dusted and vacuumed.    We've pretty much remembered where we keep everything here and are starting to enjoy the nice warm sun and quiet landscape.

Taos enjoyed his few days of "reentry" into regular dog life at Pam and John's house.

He enjoyed lounging beside the pool and gazing out at Roland, the automated pool cleaner.   He enjoyed looking meaningfully at Pam and then receiving a jackpot of dog biscuits he knows she always keeps in her pocket.   We enjoyed their welcoming arms and good food.

He enjoyed spending time back in Beluga, in all his usual places.

But he seemed to know it was time to go home.

come on guys, let's go!

zzzzzz

Now that we're back home, he acts like he never left.   He seems to have forgotten his past six months of kennel life completely.   We didn't know what to expect but he is his old, sweet and quiet self.    Nice.

Life is good.

  3. Glad to see everything back to normal but I seemed to have missed something. Is Taos out of the Guide Dog Program?
    Stay Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Yes, I talked about it in my last blog. He passed all his Guide Dog training with flying colors but just couldn't "settle" in the kennel situation. I'm not exactly sure what that meant, I'm waiting for clarification, but I'm assuming that kennel life and not having anyone to attach to was not making him happy. At any rate, we're so happy to have him back with us again, as our own special boy.

  4. I’m sorry Taos didn’t make it as a guide dog, but then again not so much because I love hearing about his adventures with you both 😊. You do such a great job of writing about Taos, and Lewis before him, that I can’t help falling in love with them.

    1. Thanks. We were sorry also; we both thought he had special powers. But....the heart wants what the heart wants, and he wanted to be here with us. He's a wonderful guy as was the great Lewis before him. They make life so interesting and fun.

  5. I know it is not what you expected or hoped for Toas, but I am so happy that he is back home with you and in his "happy place".

    1. Thanks Janna. We all are who we are, even dogs. This is where he needs to be and we're very glad we had the opportunity to train him and now have him as our own special guy.

  7. Good morning Sue. I love the photo of Taos waiting at Beluga’s door. Time is such a funny thing as days, weeks and months go by, but reunions have a way of not even noticing and pick up right where they left off…what a happy day! Happy to see you three are all settled in!

  8. You're right Gay. He acts like he wasn't living a whole different life for six months! All is forgotten, well - almost all.
