We're on the road again! Dave's last Dr. appointment was Tuesday, and he was released from PT (weeks early) so we climbed in old Beluga and left Wickenburg on Friday.
Before we left, however, we took some time to celebrate Dave's birthday. We enjoyed a birthday/farewell dinner on the Lowes beautiful back patio. MonaLiza made Lumpia!
One day we drove into Phoenix to take care of a few last-minute errands and celebrated with another dinner at the Sicilian Butcher. Mmmm, pizza and meatballs and Venetians!

| These were yummy but JoAnn's were still the best |
We toasted his happy day on our patio with a bottle of one of his favorite "table" wines.
Sweet Annie sent papa a very personal birthday card that made him smile.
Steve and MonaLiza invited us to the Club Grille at Rancho De Los Caballeros right before we left for the summer. It's been getting really hot, but we were able to sit outside and enjoy the lovely breezes and a good, cooling meal, complete with a cookie sandwich a la mode for the birthday boy. A special visitor clicked his birthday wishes to Dave as we ate our meals.

The desert heat brought out some beautiful colors in our front yard. Dave enjoyed their fragrance...Oh Dave!

| oh Dave |
Color in back also....we watched a couple of Scott's Orioles and a couple of Hooded Orioles enjoy our offering of oranges and grape jelly daily.

Taos gave Dave some of the most important things he has to offer....his belly and his big red Jolly Ball and his smile.
So, birthday celebrations finished, we packed up Beluga and pointed her nose north towards Flagstaff. No particular reason for stopping in Flagstaff except that we needed a bit of cool, refreshing air and a few days to come down from atleast a week of busy packing, organizing, and taking care of a few minor but nerve-racking repairs (Beluga's entry step was acting up.....).
We're staying at Woody Mountain RV Park, deep in the tall pines.
It's quite windy but delightfully cool and quiet. This park has a cute coffee shop, a wine lounge, and live music Saturday nights on their patio. None of which we will go near, we're here to decompress. Oh, and the stairs are still acting up so this gives Dave (and Taos) a little time to fiddle.

Today is resting, reading and watching NASCAR and NHRA on tv. Oh, which to watch, which to watch.....
Stay tuned, we're moving on Tuesday - next stop Peach Springs!
Here's Annie!

How sweet Annie looks!! I love all of the beautiful blooms around your house too! Enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteDave definitely had a wonderful food tour birthday for a few days. What fun and yummy goodies and friends! Good to see Taos keeping a close eye on Dave. He knows his dad can get out of control. Haha! What a great photo of Annie. She does love everything creative. Much better than a screen.
ReplyDeleteThe Birthday celebrations weren't planned but just kept coming so we went with the flow and enjoyed! Annie does love to be creative, especially if it gets her dirty!
DeleteHappy Birthday Dave! Looks like a great week of fun and yummy food and good friends! I know how you are happy Dave got a good report and you are on your way! It’s so awesome the way Taos is always there to lend his support. Such a sweet boy he is! And handsome too…love his smile! Annie is a doll! I love how she loves messy! Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteYes, we were both happy to get on the road. Flagstaff was an unexpected bonus, we found it to be very different than it used to be! Taos is a wonderful addition to our travels and our lives for that matter! Annie does love to get down and dirty!
DeleteYou live in Wickenburg? Who knew?!?!? Looks like Dave had a great birthday, enjoy the rest of your trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Let us know if you're in Wickenburg again, we'd love to meet you in person!
DeleteDave gets the gold star for knee recovery!! Glad you are on the road and escaping the heat. Taos makes the best supervisor! Enjoy your summer trip and hope those pesky steps decide to behave!
ReplyDeleteHe's a gold star kind of guy! Thanks, we're enjoying the beginning of our trip so far and especially now that the steps go in and out when they are asked!
DeleteAnd I forgot--that photo of Annie is perfect--those curls!
ReplyDeleteJesse had those same curls, but just not that long!
DeleteThat Annie! What a picture of a dear, sweet and happy girl. And Taos? Well, he's stealing the show in this blog. Glad you're on the road -- your favorite place and in "old Beluga." She is such a trusted companion and the only way to travel. Enjoy it all. Drink it up. Drive, sit, dine -- we all enjoy every minute of your adventures! Love you. Cindy
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy. You know us and know how much we enjoy being on the go in this beautiful country.
ReplyDeleteEarly PT release is the best of all the birthday celebrations - although those meals look pretty fabulous! Your flowers and orioles are gorgeous. Love Taos literally overseeing Dave's stair repairs. Flagstaff sounds like a great first stop to cooler temps and grand adventures (as long as you don't have to go into town). Annie is just too dang cute.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think of early release from PT as a birthday present, but it really was the best one! We had a nice time in Flag, nice off-road drives and some really good meals! I feel like my memories were of a dusty railroad town, but it's really changed! It was so delightfully cool and the air was scented with pine, ahhhhh
DeleteLate to the party here, have been pretty busy, congrats Dave on a great recovery! We had an entry step fail on the Beaver as well, had to replace the motor. Annie is a seriously cute little human. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteI guess there is always something to fiddle and fix in a home, whether its stationary or mobile! Yes, Annie is a cutie, can't wait to see her in person in a few weeks!
DeleteBelated to Dave and congratulations on such a speedy recovery. Safe travels this summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks Allison!
