Tuesday

So....after yesterday's news, today is just plain boring.   For you, not for us.

The weather is lovely and warm.   We drove over to the Venice Rookery to see whats up there and had a nice walk around the pond.   GBH's are nesting and squawking, Cormorants and Anhinga's are swimming and drying on snags and we spent a bit of time watching a tiny tri colored heron fishing along the water's edge.

As I often say, small pleasures.

We went to the beach also....it was socked in fog.   Warm fog, but fog nonetheless.    We sat beside the surf and talked awhile, walked a bit, found a couple shark's teeth then threw in the towel and went home.   The beach loses its luster when you can't tell the water from the sky!

  1. Simple pleasures indeed! And we think you and David are enjoying your winter in the best state (FL).

  2. Warm fog, what a novel experience! I swear, I can't help taking photos of GBH's either...they are just so striking!

  3. Sounds like a wonderful day relaxing and enjoying what nature has to offer. It looks like you are in the only warm place in the country. Enjoy:)

  4. Not small at all - that would be an amazing treat in my book - to go to the rookery. I agree about the beach and fog, found the same when I was in OR - those days were best spent inside curled up with a book (although the dogs didn't agree at all).

  5. The heron is majestic, beautiful pics! I think you are showing amazing restraint continuing your time in FL instead of racing home to get moved into Beluga :-) Of course you're doing it right and finishing this lovely vacation in the sun - well at least in the warm fog - and you would likely regret cutting the time short. Good practice for all the warm winters in your future :-)
