on to California

We left Lake Havasu State Park yesterday morning, driving south on rt. 95 along the blue Colorado River through Parker, Quartzite, and Yuma to our planned overnite stop in El Centro, California.   So many beautiful views along the way.   I didn't take photos of them because.....ho hum.....I've seen them before and, as a result, you probably have too.     Well, I did take two shots from Beluga's window as we flew along on I-8.

Dave's back was acting up a bit yesterday and, thanks to a wonderful security man at Rio Bend RV and Golf Resort, we were able to turn our reserved back in site into a pull through!    Shhh, don't tell anyone.   For those of you not used to towing a car behind an RV, getting a pull through site means that you don't have to go through the trouble of unhooking your towed vehicle (the Jeep) when you stop for a quick, one night stop.    This allowed Dave to skip many of his normal setting up steps and allowed us to just pull right out in the morning.   We didn't even put our jacks down because the site was so level and nice.

Lew enjoyed our brief stay at Rio Bend because he had himself a good romp with a new friend.    A young black Lab with an unusual affliction, one I've never heard of - EIC (Exercise Induced Collapse).    No, he didn't collapse while playing with Lewis, but he has and does regularly we understand.

After a good night's sleep and a relatively short drive into San Diego this morning, we're backed right up to Mission Bay for the next two weeks.   This campground is always a little trying for Lewis because it is very busy and there are lots of things for him to guard against.

One of the most dangerous things has wheels, moves erratically and lives right next door to us.....Oh dear.

  1. Fran and I enjoyed a walk around the park this morning, didn't know you were already there. I heard a few more rains are in the near future, stay dry and enjoy your visit! Perhaps next week we can drop in for a visit.

  2. Hope Dave's back is doing better. We both understand how a painful back can mess things up. Hope the Princess leaves soon or gets tired of her bike!! Looking forward to lots of sunsets over the bay!!

  3. Awww poor Lewis! The horror! It has wheels. Hope Dave's back is better very soon. Our house can attest to how trying it is when the back acts up. At present we're all good, but it's not always like that. Those dune pictures are very nice. They're sort of glowing.

  5. I had so much fun on those dunes in years past! Lewis should just enjoy that water view and avoid the lavender monster out front! I think I might have EIC......

  6. We also enjoyed our couple of nights stay at Rio Bend RV. I hope Dave's back is getting better now that you are near the Pacific Ocean and breathing ocean air.
