a few more desert drives

I'll show you a few more pictures of our social distancing drives into the desert.   They're all I have!

Mostly desert wildflowers, rocks, mountains, the River, and a few critters along the way.

Dave walks up the hill to check out where we are (see him up there?)

I stay down below and photograph this pretty Indian Paintbrush

these little blossoms completely covered a rather large bush and smelled just like sweet alyssum, Mmmm

We climbed up into the rocky shade for lunch and enjoyed the peeping frogs and chattering bird sounds

pools in the rocks from the seeping "owl" dam

We have one or two more drives in mind here and then....we're heading home.  We don't know when the "right" time is, or even how to make that call,  be but we've decided that Sunday will be the day for us.

  1. The frog came out great. Too bad everyone can't hear how loud they all were. The desert certainly is alive with all the colors between the flowers and the rocks.

  3. Great pictures as always.
There are some states that are lifting restrictions but they don't meet the criteria set forth by the Federal Government.
Be Safe and Enjoy the solitude.

    It's about time.

  4. Sounds like a good idea. I don't think this is gonna be ending any time real soon. We're struggling right now to figure out what to do. There are just no good answers. What a mess. Stay well and safe travels!

  5. This could go on for a very long time, so I can understand why you want to head to your lovely summer home to hunker down for the duration. (I trust it's safe there?) We still have NO idea what we're going to do, or where we're going to go, or when. This is CRAZY. Deep breath...I love the owl mural, the illuminated cholla, and the intricate patterns in the rock. Safe travels and big hugs to you three! OX

    1. Safe is a relative term these days....the cottage is as safe as anywhere else I suppose.
Good luck making future decisions, it's a crap shoot at this point! I'm sending those virtual hugs back to you in Florida, stay safe.

  6. Beautiful photos as always, intimate and close up. We will just wave at you when you pass by W on Sunday :( I wonder if you will be required to quarantine when you cross the border to your state or even what it would be like crossing interstates.

    1. We'll keep you posted but I rather doubt that we'll be asked to quarantine when we enter rural New York State. But - I've been wrong before.

  7. I just read your blog. Your cottage at the lake sounds perfect in these uncertain and troublesome times. I’m very thankful for a home ( not on wheels) these days...more for the pups than for me although we have certainly been busy and productive. Safe travels...
