not much

Not much to report this week.   If I share what we did and saw you'd probably fall asleep.     Not boring to us, but nothing really newsworthy happens when you're living your life quietly at home.

blended Canada Goose families

It's spring, regardless of what the weather is doing, so we are enjoying all the new families in the area.

And, the Cottonwood trees surrounding the lake are shedding their cottony white seeds like their life depended on it.    There are drifts of cotton in every corner, on every screen, caught in every spider web and in eyes and mouth when we try to sit outside.   One of the things Dave did this week was vacuum/sweep the screens and decks trying to stay ahead of it.

We went out for a traditional western New York Friday night fish fry at a nearby lake front restaurant.    It was such a lovely evening we  decided to sit outside.    A mistake - unless you don't mind having Cottonwood as a condiment.   We managed to pick enough of it out of our tartar sauce and ketchup to enjoy the meal.

Today was an absolutely perfect summer day.   It was sunny and warm and we were able to enjoy second cup and happy hour out at the end of the dock.    The wind kicked up and chased us back closer to shore, but the good news is that I think it has blown away all the white fluffy stuff so we'll be able to stop sneezing and blowing our noses (and we can eat outside again without picking it out of our teeth!).

Next week will be more fun for you - and us!   We're expecting a couple couples coming to stay with us.    Stay tuned!

  1. Love the blended families!! Will Dave have to vacuum Lew to keep the poodle a true black?

  3. I must say I'm happy that the cottonwood fluff has abated (we've had so much of it the past couple of weeks!). But even if we have to pick it out of our food, coffee, and G & Ts, we won't mind if we're sharing the experience with you. See you in a few days! :-))

  4. The cottonwood has been out of control this year. It looked like it was honest to god snowing here at one point last week. Anyway, glad you're enjoying some nice quiet time before social season begins!!

  5. Got a non-shedding dog but live under shedding trees......dang! Life on the lake doesn't sound boring at all. It's such a wonderful place to relax and enjoy just being. Fantastic sky shot!!

  6. That is one large blended family! Good to see you were able to get in a second cup at the end of the dock. I do, however, expect at least one photo in every blog with my furry friend!!
