Friday and Saturday

Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.   Wednesday it rained, Thursday, it rained on and off all day and though the night.

I didn't mind so much when I was feeling sick, Sasha and I just kept each other company on the couch.  It was actually sort of cozy for us, listening to the rain drumming on the roof snuggling under the comforter.

my nursemaid blends in nicely doesn't she?

Not so much for Dave though.    He took care of all the details, taking the dogs out in the rain, wiping them down, groceries, etc.  Sweet man.    He knows I'll reciprocate.

Friday I felt much better so after we wished Pam and Vic good bye and safe travels "til we meet again", we drove south to Venice for an overnight visit with our old friends Cindy and Norm.   They have a house there and had just arrived from frozen New York State.  We had originally planned to spend the afternoon out in their boat, but the rain made that idea pretty unappealing.    In the end we spent the time catching up and it was good to just chill.   The dogs love their house because the yard is fenced and Sasha can poke to her heart's content and Lewis can chase the ball til his heart's content.

On our way home today, we stopped at the Venice Jetty and watched boats heading out to the Gulf to enjoy the first warm,  Saturday in quite a while.  People were fishing, sitting in the sun and picnicking.

Hmmmm, picnicking.   It was lunchtime after all.  We let someone else have our perfect jetty parking spot and drove along Casey Key to Blackburn Point and the delicious Casey Key Fish House for a little take out.     Since we had the dogs with us, we couldn't go inside the restaurant so we picked up a couple yummy fresh grouper sandwiches and ate them in the car overlooking the intracoastal waterway and overlooked by two drooling canines.   Yes, we shared...what are friends for?

these two didn't like us watching their seafood lunch

Happy Anniversary Hans and Lisa!

  1. Looks like a fun getaway in spite of the weather. We like the Casey Key Fish House too. Their poster would make a good looking t-shirt.

Hopefully, the weather is warming up throughout the Gulf Coast. I am looking forward to some sunshine and opportunities to kayak and swim.

Hold down the fort 'til we return. Then the six of us can raise the roof--ha.

  4. Weather doesn't keep good friends from having a great visit. Glad you had fun despite the lack of a boat ride.

Great find for Hans and Lisa!
