Friday

Dave and the dogs on their first walk of the morning, can you see them?

Another cloudy, rainish day in the desert, whats up with this?    We got up on the late side, again (probably because the sun wasn't  shining in our eyes, yep, thats it)  Rain seemed imminent, so Dave took both dogs out to the wash for their morning walk.    After breakfast Polly came and got us so we could  all  join  the peanut gallery watching the Awning Pro guy install Alex and Ellen's new slide top.  I'm sure he loved the audience, but we all enjoyed it.

Come out Lewis, we're waiting for you.....

We had no lunch fixings here at Beluga, so we went into Quartzsite to see what kind of food we could find.  Silly Al's caught our eye, been there since the 80's, so the sign said.  The parking lot was jammed, always a good sign, so we found a spot and went into the small dark restaurant.  After our eyes adjusted, we found a booth and ordered lunch from a very brusk waitress.  We didn't expect much, but ended up having a knockout lunch and some productive conversation  about where we want to go from "here".

Feeling very full and satisfied, we drove to the used car sales and trade lot oddly named "Desert Gardens. We pulled in and asked a big guy with an even bigger cowboy hat where we could park...his droll reply was "out of the way", so we slunk away and parked out of the way.

Dave had his eye on this place from the first time we drove past it, quite a treasure trove of original iron.

the "Desert Garden" is sprouting lots of old beauties but the  big hat guy knows what he has and his prices are high
After a leisurely stroll amongst the old creatures (the cars, not the people!), we took one last drive into the show, below are a few more photos.

The rain was getting closer, so we high tailed it back to Beluga - I left the windows open!
The skies opened and we were inside for the rest of the evening.  Nina and Polly came over for a last quick snuggle/romp before our departure tomorrow.  Another good day behind us and another quiet evening with good books before us.
