Tuesday - California - Arizona, California

Our day started in California....a late breakfast and second cup.  We took the dogs for a long, newsy stroll on the dog walk, both levels.   Sasha reads all the local "news" with her nose as she pokes along on her walks.  Lewis races from side to side, front and back, sniffing and looking at everything, but Sasha carefully reads every inch.   On a more exciting note, Jesse emailed to say he has been excepted to the MBA program at the Leeds Business School, University of Colorado at Boulder!  Congratulations Jesse....

the dog walk  has two levels and is a really nice area after all

purple prickly pear cactus along the dog walk

the desert is beginning to come alive

Beluga backed into the trees at our site, as seen from the dog area
All along the lower level of the designated dog walk area are interesting cactus, oleanders, old farm implements, benches, picnic tables and this team of horses hitched to an old buckboard.....

Whoa!   What are these?

Oooh, alright, if you say they're ok, I'll take just one tiny sniff....

whats the big deal, they're fiberglass horses. - yawn...
After lunch we decided we'd take a quick look around the Yuma area (just over the border into Arizona) then come back and sit by the pool to read.     We never got back to the pool, we were so interested in the farm fields and methods of planting, growing and harvesting that we ended up  driving around checking out the enormous fields of produce.  I understand, from a very reliable source, that this is the country's Salad Capital and 90 percent of all leafy veggies in the winter are grown  here.

Back in California, the sun was just setting as we returned to Beluga.  Yes, another sunset picture, although not as beautiful as the ones in the desert or over Mission Bay.

last bit of color over the Colorado River

There isn't anything better than unlocking the door and having these two smiling faces waiting for us.

  1. The dogs seem to be enjoying the new park.

I loved all the lettuce! They were working hard harvesting head lettuce the day we drove around. What a job since they were bending and hand picking each head.

  2. Well, today I'm enjoying imagining all that sunny and warm weather...we're at 6 degrees this am. No fun! And the critters are all unhappy too!

Loved seeing the pix of Lewis with the horses and buckboard! He's such a sketch. Bravado is not his forte in this life! Good thing you've got the Gentle Sasha to settle his nerves!
