Tuesday - a day behind

Today's post is about yesterday.    I told you, I'm time challenged.

second cup

It was a beautiful, warm but - you guessed it - windy day yesterday.  We were able to set up and have our second cup outside, next to Beluga on our huge site.  I still can't get used to the views.  I sometimes forget where we are and then I step outside and am just knocked down by the beauty of the place.

Perhaps tomorrow I'll see if I can persuade Dave to turn Beluga around to face these views.  It is supposed to be cold and windy (but sunny!) for the next few days and that way we could see the lake the surrounding rock formations right out our front window.

After a leisurely morning, we drove around the area to get the lay of the land and see where things were.  We drove down to the marina, around to some day use areas, over the dam into Page (time change again) and back over the dam again.  The views from the jeep are not nearly as scary as the ones looking down at the dam and canyon from Beluga's height.

three floors of floating fun!

see the tiny little tour boat?  Its not really so tiny and we're taking it on Friday morning for a 3 hour excursion through the canyons!

Glen Canyon dam in the upper right is about 700 feet high. at one point, in 1983, floods almost caused its collapse!

Once in Page, Dave dashed into a car wash to try and blast off some of the desert's wind driven dust,   Beluga will have to wait for a better opportunity.   While we were there we visited a Redbox and rented the Life of Pi for the evening's entertainment.   No TV reception here.

Hey sonny, don't forget to check the oil.

  3. Have you read the book?? I read it and would be very interested in your thoughts. I probably won't see the movie.

SO happy for you and Dave to be able to see the country the way you are. MCH

  4. Boy, life doesn't get much better (well, maybe less wind!). What a great site! Is the park empty or did you know about this site? Love all the concrete.

Other bloggers I follow just rented a boat and went out to the canyon that takes you to Rainbow Bridge arch. They toured another area as well. Very neat pictures. You should have a wonderful time. Take lots of pictures. We've never been there. Looks like we need to get there next time around.

We have been having wind here in UT as well. The last two days have been rainy off and on and it looks like the same today with 35 this morning and reports of snow flurries in the area!!!! Thank goodness it warms up after this.

    Keep enjoying that amazing view!
