Arrival!

here comes Angel!

First thing Friday morning, we opened the garage door and prepared to receive Angel and his moving crew.     He's a real gem.  After loading the truck and driving it across the country in three days, he was still smiling and laughing.

Angel and one of the local helpers (Chris or Dave)

He and his crew ( local helpers and his brother, Jose) were competent, friendly, polite and oh so efficient!  The moving truck was packed like a giant jigsaw puzzle and was completely unloaded by 10:30 a.m.!   All boxes had been carefully labeled before loading at the lake, and the guys made sure they were all properly replaced at the new house.

Now for the unpacking.....We spent half of Saturday and Sunday organizing the garage.   We started there because we were looking for the painting drop cloths Dave knew were there, somewhere......

boxes in the foreground are empty and awaiting recycling

We have to paint the master bedroom and bath before placing our furniture, so those drop cloths were important (sure, we could have just bought new ones....too easy, right?).    We finally found his own, personal drop cloths in THE VERY LAST BOX!   but, now we have them and the painting can begin.

I'm working on unearthing my kitchen, so much packing paper!

At the end of the day, it's nice to enjoy a gin and tonic sitting in our old, familiar Adirondack chairs.    They are slightly confused by their new views....where's the lake they ask?

We're still living in Beluga at Desert Cypress RV.   It was a good decision not to try and move right into the house.    Coming back to our calm, quiet "home on wheels" with a fully stocked refrigerator, clean bed, and cable tv is more than wonderful after the chaos that is 1055!

  1. Those are nice looking shelves in the garage! Congratulations on the arrival of your stuff. Having the RV to back to when we moved in here was so good, especially the shower and clean bed part.

    1. Those shelves kept me organized at the lake and are doing the same thing out here!

  2. Beluga remains your Island Paradise, nice to step back from the hassle of moving in, letting the paint dry and enjoy the comforts of Beluga.
The boys made good time taking your belongings cross country.

  4. So nice to have Beluga to stay in while fix up your new place just the way you like it. Definitely a perk of transitioning from RV life to a house!

  5. We're really just transitioning from one home base to another. We're really not leaving RV life as a matter of fact, we're off again in just a few weeks!

  6. I know that's a relief to have the big move finished! You guys are so organized...can't wait to see everything in place in your new home. The Adirondack chairs are wondering where the lake is, LOL!! I'm sure they are enjoying their expansive desert views (as are you!). We're in the process of figuring out how to get our stuff in storage moved cross country. I want a magic wand.

  8. I do remember the relief and excitement on delivery day! The mountain of wrapping paper and boxes piled high in the garage remind me how much we have done. We are living testimony that this phase of “new home” will be a memory in just a few weeks. Hope Lew is enjoying his new home and yard!

    1. We're making progress but still I can't find my silverware! Lewis enjoyed his first time at the house today. He helped me with unpacking!

  9. Definitely the right decision to stay in Beluga at the RV park. It would have so hard for Lew with all the confusion. And Beluga is all set up for comfort. A break is needed at the end of a long day unpacking. Angel was a perfect find for the move.

  11. Wonderful to find a trustworthy and organized mover. Getting your stuff to the new place is a huge step - congrats!! I do all the painting and have never used a drop cloth, but I also leave the ceilings white so I might use them if that weren't the case :-) Can't wait to see it all coming together.
