After leaving Walla Walla, we set up camp at our regular Spokane spot, Northern Quest Casino RV Park. It's perfectly located for us with large, neat sites and wonderfully accommodating staff. It's owned and run by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, who also operate a neat little raceway right down the road!
We went over early last Friday evening and scored the perfect parking spot! We could sit in the comfort of the Jeep's leather seats and watch all the action. Sure beat the cement bleachers!

The RV Park was great place for us and Beluga while we spent time with sweet Annie girl.
Before Jesse and Erin left for their vacation in France, and before we moved into the house to stay with the girl, we did a little exploring and restauranting.

Beluga had a checkup at the great Spokane Caterpillar facility while we were staying at Jesse's house. Except for the expected aging problems, she got a clean bill of health.
Grandparent duty is a hard but wonderful job. Let me just say that we fell into bed and slept very soundly every night! Here's Annie - and Molly too of course...

We were able to enjoy some family time with Jesse and Erin also when they returned. Annie was happy to see her mamma and daddy!

Our babysitting gig over, we left Spokane on Sunday morning. We drove a little over an hour north to an ownership park on the Pend Oreille River. We're close enough to visit often, but it's time for everyone to get back to normal.
This is a quiet, rural park right on the river. Everyone is very friendly, except our closest neighbor. She and her "husband" are very vocal and yell at us whenever we open Beluga's door. We understand that she won't be here for much longer but we're trying to help them realize that we mean no harm.....we're really very nice people.

see her? |
 |
We sit in the gazebo every evening to watch the sun sink into the mountains across the river.

You had me there for a second when talking about your neighbor! The drag races look like a blast, but I bet it was nothing compared to the experience of babysitting little Annie!
ReplyDeleteDave thought I should be clearer in my description of "the neighbor" but I knew you'd know it was a Kildeer family! The drag races were lots of fun, it brought back old days for sure, but the highlight of our visit was little Annie.
DeleteI was wondering how things had gone with the babysitting--looks as if you two knew what you were doing! :) :) You had me too with the talk of your neighbor! :) :) That strawberry face on Annie is precious! Enjoy the rest of your time in Spokane!
ReplyDeleteWe did have a great time, and old habits came back to us, but we realized that mother nature is wise in making us infertile in our dotage! The Kildeer couple is beginning to get used to us and are much less hysterical when we appear. phew!
DeleteGood morning Sue…great phots of fun times and oh the memories you have made. We remember those wonderful days of having the ones all to ourselves and time sure flies. Our oldest granddaughter is 30! Annie is a doll! So expressive and happy and engaged and playful. I love the story time photo as well as the study in beige…both are keepers and need frames! I chuckled at the “get back to normal” comment and had a warm fuzzy feeling at the thought of sunsets at the gazebo. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLots of memories to be sure Gay.... Happy belated Anniversary to you and Joe!
DeleteLooks like lots of memories were made.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Yes they were!
DeleteOh how fun for all of you!! Looks like good times were had and wonderful memories made. That's a fabulous mural, but those meals reeeeeally look good!! Your spot by the river is perfect for summer fun. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun getting to know Annie, all by ourselves. We'll carry these sweet memories with us. The mural was really remarkable. It was on a completely flat apartment building surface! And...who doesn't love shrimp and grits?
DeleteGreat photos of Annie. So many expressions. That's an incredible mural. Beautiful. Glad you're settled along the water for the next whole. Hope your neighbor moves on soon. Clever writing!!🤣 Pam
ReplyDeleteAnnie is very photogenic, you should see the "side eye" she gives often!
DeleteThe mural really caught me...the building side is completely flat, yet it looks like there are windows, a huge tree and tree house.
I don't know what the incubation period for Kildeer eggs is, we wait.....
