Tuesday we helped out with Jesse ans Erin's dogs. Jess is in Houston at a conference and Erin had a late meeting so we packed up our laundry and spent the afternoon loving up the two blondies. Well, Dave did most of it, the laundry and the dog loving.....I headed over to Flatiron Crossing to look for attire suitable for the mother of the groom at The Wedding. No jeans, t-shirts, sandals, fleece vests, or sweat shirts, which are pretty much all we carry with us these days. I didn't have any luck, but this was my first go at it.
After lunch today we did some auto-hiking into the mountains. It started out sunny and a little cool as we drove along following the racing, tumbling Clear Creek toward Idaho Springs. We had no destination in mind, we just wanted to get out and enjoy the views. Halfway there the skies opened and we were glad we didn't get the jeep washed before we set out. I took a few nice pictures - my lap top, complete with new hard drive, should be back tomorrow so I'll be able to show you the pictures I've been saving.

Monday
I had a lovely, relaxing Mother's day. Jesse made a special dinner, Erin made a special dessert and I came home with left overs and a beautiful bouquet of my favorite flowers, tulips. What more could a girl ask for? And to top the day off, we saw neither rain nor snow! Again I ask, what more could a girl ask for....
Sun! We had sunshine on our faces all day today - I'm giddy! I finally feel like I'm here. After lunch we just got in the car and explored, driving along the base of the mountains past lush green pastures north on route 93. We bumbled about in Lyons (where THE wedding will take place in September) until we found the Riverbend venue. It is absolutely beautiful, large green lawns, the river rioting along beneath a dramatic escarpment, white tent with flags flying....I'm excited.
I wish I could show you pictures, I did take a few. The word on my lap top is that the hard drive is toast...a new one has been ordered. In the meantime I'm trying to convince google and apple to make nice nice and allow me to put some images on the blog instead of just all this boring talk!

Catch-up
Friday morning we attended Jesse's induction into the International Business Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is "the highesr recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive...". We couldnt't be prouder of our son and his hard work and committment. (Thanks for indulging me in a bit of parental bragging).
The campus of CU was a mad house. It was still raining hard, kids and parents were taking every available parking spot trying to jam their dorm room treasures into family cars and head home for the summer. Deep puddles and mud everywhere. Add in graduates in soggy caps and gowns hurrying to various ceremonies and you get a picture of our Friday. After Jesse's calm and inspiring ceremony Erin headed back to work and Dave, Jesse and I set out for a yummy empanada lunch.
Saturday was the graduation itself. Erin's mom and other of her relatives were coming down from Wyoming to share Jesse's big day but last minute weather warning between there and here kept them in Wyoming. It turns out it was a wise decision, but we missed them. Flash flood watches, areal flood warnings flashed all over the tv screen and the radar justified these predictions. Since we were going to be in Boulder for a very long day and given the worrysome potential weather, we decided to pack up the dogs, some necessary belongings and leave them all at Jesse's house just in case. We battened down the hatches in Beluga and hoped for the best.
The campus had calmed down a bit and parking was much easier. We tossed fashion aside and donned our llbean raincoats and more hardy shoes so walking around in the driving rain was slightly less uncomfortable. Graduation was in a beautiful aud.....I'd love to show you, sorry, maybe later.
Pomp and circumstance, speeches, cheers, giving of flowers, the walk across the stage, the giving of diplomas, the giddy recessional and we were off to the MBA reception. We met friends and heard some lovely things about our son from his professors and advisors.
Back at Jesse and Erin's, we fed and cared for the dogs, donned an additional layer of clothes and went back into Boulder for a fantastic dinner at my new favorite restaurant, Brasserie ten ten.
While we laughed and ate and reminisced the rain got thicker and turned to snow. Yep, snow. By the time we were ready to leave it looked more like Christmas than mother's day eve.
It took us quite a while to get back to Beluga once we picked up the dogs and their "luggage" from Jesse and Erin's. Snow plows were just beginning to move around by the time we arrived in Golden. We left Beluga worrying about floods and arrived home with winter storm warnings and frozen hoses, sheesh!

OK, OK, I won't talk about the weather anymore. We spent another day around Beluga because....well, never mimd. We clipped the poodle's face, took a nice walk while it wasn't...while it was dry.... And thats about it for Thursday. I should have entitled this blog post BCA to warn you of its boring content.

Wednesday
well, my trusty lap top bit the dust for good last night. Our wonderful IT guy worked on it, remotely, all day and night and couldn't fix the problem, so its on its way back to him in New York (LeRoy, New York that is. John works at our old Company, we have a long history with him!).
Luckily we have an ipad so this is coming to you from Dave's device. I rarely use it, so there is a bit of a learning curve for me. I'll work on figuring out loading pictures later.
Some people (you know who you are....) have hinted that we may have dragged the nasty weather patterns along with us to Colorado, I'm beginning to think we did. It has been cool, cloudy, windy and sometimes torrentially rainy ever since we arrived, hmmmmm. Yesterday it rained so hard, all day, that we couldn't even see the mountains that surround us. We stayed inside Beluga and read. The dogs remembered our old trick of "getting busy" outside at the end of a flexi-leash held by one of us sitting inside on the passenger seat! Such good dogs. That way the only ones to get soaked are them!
Sunday Erin and Jesse came over for dinner and on Monday Dave and I met Jesse for lunch at one of his fav. taco restaurants, Comida (Erin was at work). It is downtown in a fantastic, repurposed old brick foundry that also houses another restaurant, a florist, wine shop, bakery, specialty food shop, bar (serving some extremely unusual beers), etc.
That pretty much brings you up to date. I'll work on getting some pictures on this machine later today.

Saturday
I'm struggling with computer problems so I'll be brief.
Yesterday morning Dave met Jesse and they attended a small car show. I stayed back at Beluga and performed some of my Domestic Goddess duties.
Later in the day we were invited to Jesse and Erin's for a special dinner, to celebrate the end of school days, the beginning of a new chapter for them. Jesse had saved very special bottle of wine for many years, waiting for a special occasion. Last night was that special occasion - Thanks for sharing Jess.
