We're at Comstock Country RV Resort in Carson City, NV. This is a nice, very clean park with gravel sites and lots of trees that mask its location on busy Highway 395 near Route 50. It offers free WiFi, Cable TV, full hook-ups, neat inexpensive laundry facilities and plenty of room outside the fence to exercise the dogs. I think we'll stay one more day here, Mother's Day, and take care of a few more errands and pick up our 3 month prescription refills.
When we checked in the woman in the office handed me a map of the area with an scenic loop drive to Lake Tahoe marked on it. After lunch we took the auto tour she recommended and were very glad we did. It, indeed, was scenic. We took Route 50 up and over the mountains behind us, all the way through a tunnel in Cave Rock to the shores of the lake.

I think Lake Tahoe and its surrounding rocky pine forests is possibly the most beautiful place I've ever seen. It elicits an emotional response from both of us that not many places do. The smell of the pine woods, the fresh smelling air coming off the deep, clear water, the sound of the waves lapping on the rocky shores, the warm sun, the cool shade and voices of songbirds, whew, they take our breath away.
Its a good thing we know how snowy it gets here, otherwise we'd have trouble leaving!

We completed the scenic loop by driving back on Route 206 through Nevada's oldest settlement, Genoa (settled in 1891). I didn't take any pictures of the small, quaint Victorian town, but it looked like a nice place for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
