Lewis makes us laugh every single day. He does everything 200 percent, especially playing with his ball.
Sasha keeps us calm and relaxed. Not much makes her move very fast. She enjoys our second cup in her own way.... They are a perfect balance.
No tee times are given here. You just show up, pay and off you go. Dave says its a good example of a western course. Stay down the middle and you're ok, avoid the rough at all costs. The rough is really really rough here. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the ever present stiff winds. It was nice and warm except when you were in the wind, and then we were glad we brought our fleece vests along. Its almost impossible to make your shots go where you want them to. The gusty winds just seem to take the ball and blow it randomly, in the air or on the turf. Despite that variable, Dave played a pretty good 18 hole game.
see Beluga in the background? |
big honking snake on 10! I don't know what type it was, but it was moving very slowly in the cool air. |
most of the holes were on the flat, except 16. tiny town of Likely is visible in the top left |
the scenery was bucolic these horses were frisky in the cool spring sunshine |
a good back scratch |
patches of bright color scattered among the sage |
We had a good time today. This course is very relaxed and dog friendly. One of the maintenance guys was using a tractor to mow a rough area and his little dog was racing to and fro the whole time. What an athletic guy he was, I bet he sleeps well at night.
We played through past an older couple and their sweet yellow lab. She must "play" with them often, she heeled along side the cart as they drove, then peeled off and zoomed around the fairways while they took their shots. As soon as they got back into the cart, she fell back into heel position and moved along with them with a smile on her face. Nice atmosphere.
We finished up around 4, took care of our patient doggies, then sat outside til it got too cool. Carm's spaghetti sauce and caesar salad for dinner tonight. No sunset, the clouds are closing in on us. As a matter of fact, it has just started to rain!
While we were eating dessert, we heard a wrecker pull into the campground. The motorhome behind us was being hauled away to Reno. Ugh, bad memories, A catastrophic breakdown is always an rv'rs nightmare. Good luck to them.
I imagine Sasha get tired just watching Lewis romp around! Great shot of Lewis and the ball!!
ReplyDeleteJohn is looking forward to being able to play some golf with Dave next winter! Never heard of a dog friendly golf course.
Glad you had a nice day. I can send some of our heat your way!!
I remember Likely! We stayed there awhile ago, I think I posted a picture of the cows. That is a great show of the dog catching the ball. Good timing!
ReplyDeleteWhew ...what a snake!!!!!!! Loved the idea of the dog-friendly golf course. Wonder what they'd do if you showed up with a tiny Miniature horse who followed your cart? Those greens always look so enticing to us horse-people!
ReplyDeleteBucolic? Never heard of it. Looked it up and perfect description. Thanks for the English lesson.
