Wednesday - Ouch....

Dave's back is on the fritz.  He hasn't had a problem with it for quite awhile, but he's really ouchy today.  He thinks he bent and turned (a big no no) when he was taking the ex pens out of the basement compartment, but I think he was tight from the windy long drive and THEN bent and turned, a deadly combination.

At any rate, we're taking it pretty easy.   Its hard to look out at the lovely golf course and not play at least 9 holes, but we'll be content with just enjoying its intense greeness.  As might be expected, we went to Schats Bakery for our traditional roast turkey/cranberry sandwiches.  They were as good as we remembered and eating them in the lovely warm sunshine made it even better.

this town is absolutely filled with roses, these were climbing up the fence at the Bakery

we got more than sandwiches at Schats,  Shhhh, don't tell...

Nina told us about a great Thai restaurant at the little Bishop airport, so, of course, we had to check it out.
As I looked at the restaurant and its menu, Dave shot the breeze with a nice gentleman in the Pilot's Lounge. Pilots always have lots to talk about with each other, you know.    After deciding to come back for dinner on Thursday, we followed a few dirt roads down to the river and otherwise goofed off the rest of the day.

its still snowing in the White mountains

I love the clouds that form over mountains

still snowing in the Sierras

Cocktails outside, listening to the lovely sounds of children playing with cap guns next door.....I wonder how long they'll be here.  Dave reminds me that you catch more flies with honey, but my natural inclination is to growl and hiss at them.   Serenity now, serenity now.....

They must have read my mind, or seen the smoke coming out of my ears, because they soon quietly disappeared.   Ah, much better.

It got too chilly to sit out, so we  picked up bbq from Holy Smoke and ate ourselves silly.   This has got to stop.   Probably won't til we leave though!   Good thing we're only here til Friday morning.

can anyone say "thunderstorm"?

  2. Sorry to hear about Dave's back. We totally understand that one. I do think these men get tight driving these huge houses on wheels and then they move too quickly to set up. I imagine Dave was a tight mess after driving in the wind. Hope he feels better real soon.

The roses are so pretty. They help make me feel warm!

Your mountain photos are once again beautiful. I love watching the storms form around them.

Enjoy your stay and don't eat too much.
