Another business call today, at Polymar in Leola, Pa.   On our drive south we passed pristine Amish farms with draft teams (mules and horses) working the fields, laundry flapping in the strong winds and tiny new foals flopped flat on their sides in the spring sunshine.

After another notable lunch we lined up for our tour of Herr's Snack Foods factory.  We enjoy their potato chips and Dave particularly loves their ketchup flavored chips.  For a long time those chips were only available in Pennsylvania and he considered them a delicacy!    We couldn't pass up a chance to see them being made and the tour proved to be very interesting.  I won't bore you with the details and statistics, but we learned a few interesting facts and ended up in the "gift shop" which was filled with all their products.  Needless to say we have enough goodies for the rest of the trip.  Now where will we put all those bags...

We took the dogs along with us (they kept the jeep safe while we did our thing) again because wild fires are burning in this state park and we didn't want to chance anything happening to them while we were gone.  The fires were started by a downed power line and exacerbated by high winds, low humidity and a plethora of  fuel in the form of  broken and downed trees from a freak October snow storm.

After taking Lewis and Sasha for a long walk, we settled into our warm little home and looked forward to dinner and early bedtime.  Across from us are two mothers and their kids huddled around a campfire.  Its quite cool and going to get into the 30's - glad we're not in a tent with them...  Makes me cold just to think of it.
