We enjoyed the drive and talked about everything under the sun. We talked about our beloved Colony and tried to figure out what to do, we talked about the beautiful wild flowers in the medians - orange poppies, blue forget-me-nots - we talked about how nice it was to have this new Sirius XM radio (THANKS GUYS!), I got a lesson on Jake brakes and the diesel RPM power curve vs a gas engines power, etc. We never seem to run out of things to talk about.
On the map, the roads heading into the State Park looked a little "iffy" for Beluga so we decided to park in a nearby Walmart, unhook the jeep and do a little scouting before we ended up getting ourselves in a mess. Good thing we did because when we arrived at the SP campground we found that our site was still occupied by a very old, beat up motorhome. Long story short, it was owned by the groom of a couple who were getting married in the lodge! We drove around checking out the lake and the rest of the park waiting for him to leave.
Once we were finally able to take possession of our site we discovered it was a very difficult one - we would never have chosen it ourselves. The entrance road was a hill and the site went up another incline between huge loblolly pines. Only Dave could have gotten us in, and all in one move yet! No way to get us level on this hill, two tires are completely off the ground and we need a stool to get in and out the door! We'll look for another site Sunday.
No TV, no cell coverage and very spotty internet so I'm not able to post any pictures. When we're out and about Mon. and Tues. I'll try to capture some WiFi and add the photos then, sorry!
Suzi, great blogging. Interesting to hear about your adventuress. This is a great way for Dave to wind down from business life.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you are getting my comments, as I know nothing about blogging, along with lots of other things.
