Friday - Boy Oh Boy - This Is Really Cool

Dave's words exactly.  We spent the day at the McCormick Classic Car Auction in Palm Springs and Dave was "tingling" (his word).  It was a beautiful day and we walked around and looked at probably 500 classic and collector vehicles!  Friday admission was free and it was mobbed.  Row after row of interesting cars in the parking lot of the Spa Resort Casino.    We were strolling down memory lane, talking about our early lives, family members cars, friends cars, cars we watched drag race when we were kids, cars we wished we could have, cars we knew our friends would love to have.  We marveled at the condition some of the cars were in - from perfect and pristine to out and out fakes and knock out paint jobs and restorations to painted over tape and hail damage.   All and all a really interesting day.

Here go some pictures....

a 1939 Chevy two door sedan
There were vintage cars, muscle cars, new cars, replica's, and rare collector vehicles.  The two below may be of interest to you, Fred.....

Such a perfect Palm Springs picture

As we looked at the beautiful cars, I found my self becoming fixated on the tiny details, the grills and the hood ornaments.  Sounds like me, doesn't it?

We spent a bit of time watching the actual auction, but had to leave because the auctioneers antics were exhausting both of us.   It was much more fun looking at the cars and the people looking at the cars than it was sitting in the actual sale tent.

I was surprised at how long we spent at the spa resort Casino.    We got back to Beluga just in time to see this beautiful sunset and prepare our dinner.  Once again, Dave ended up grilling our pork and red onion kabobs in the dark.  What a guy!
