Wednesday catch up

Internet here is spotty again, so I'll post as I can.

Wednesday Beluga left her nice shady spot in Armitage County Park to visit Mark at Elite RV Repair and Remodel in nearby Harrisburg.    Dave had some things he wanted to discuss with Mark so Lewis and I followed along behind Dave in Beluga.

Here is where I'd include a picture of Beluga in site 21 and another one from my view behind Beluga as she drove past fields of freshly harvested grass.   This is a big area for the production of grass seeds and its interesting to watch the big silver/gold fields go from long waving grasses to long, neatly cut and windrowed piles waiting for the combines.

As you can guess, pictures aren't loading again.       If they were, I'd show you one of Dave and Mark discussing a small crack that has appeared in the corner of Beluga's rear slide.     I didn't take another one of them talking about our entry door or one of Mark checking the front slide motor.    Mark quietly and confidently addressed Dave's questions and we left with smiles on our faces.    No Charge.

So, I'll continue to try and show you some pictures as the days progress.   We move sites next Tuesday so perhaps the verizon signal will be better over there.

Yesterday we had a decidedly unpleasant experience with Freightliner.   We took Beluga there for her oil change, etc. appointment and 6 hours later we were told she was ready to pick up....all done.    Long story short, Dave discovered that they had overfilled the oil in the crankcase  and we had to wait for a tech to drain the excess and straighten everything out.    Same thing happened the last time we went there.    Never again.     Why can't every rv experience be as stellar as our dealings with Elite?

During the 6 hours that we were homeless we took a little road trip to see how many of Lane County's famous covered bridges we could find.    Here is where I'd show you the four we located and walked on and drove through.    I'd show you the beautiful wooden structures, the fish in the river's below the bridges decking, and how regal Lewis looked sitting in the backseat on his first ever solo car trip.   Sigh.

In the mean time, lots of you know that Lewis went to the vet's today for an xray of his swollen face.    He's still there, waking up, but I spoke to the vet this morning and she says he did not have a root abscess after all.   She felt the excessive swelling under his eye and the pain he was in resulted from a number of small scratches she found on the outside of his third eyelid.  She only saw them under magnification but they caused quite a big problem for poor Lew.  How did he get scratches there?     SAND!

Lewis' fun birthday on the beach has turned out to be a pretty d amn expensive day in the sand!

  1. Oh Lewis! Poor guy :-( And mixed feelings I'm sure about having the back seat to himself. How hard is an oil change to get right? This is the first time I've heard Freightliner can be as bad as the rest of them - not good news! Looking forward to the pics of the covered bridges - they were Mom's favorites.

  2. No more sandy beach birthday celebrations for Lewis...too hard on him and you. Nope...moderation is the key. Let's try moderation on a tennis court chasing his ball.

  3. Poor Lew! I recently scratched my eye with a plant and failed to completely it clean it until the next day...no fun! He just had way too much fun on his birthday and now he's paying for it!

  4. So...what about the questions on Beluga? Will you need to go back to Elite for repairs, can Dave fix them, or are they okay? Curious minds are wondering:) I'm sure Lew was very glad to get back home last night:) As I'm sure you and Dave were thrilled to be back playing ball in Beluga:)

  6. Oh, poor Lewis! He really suffered some ill-effects from his birthday beach celebration. I scratched my cornea one time with a contact lens and it was incredibly painful, so I can empathize with him. Hope he's feeling better.

  9. Aww, Lewis :(
That is why Steve still thinks the Freightliner in Gaffney, SC is still the best. Our Denver and Salt Lake City maintenance stop did not come to par with the one in Gaffney.
