We got together for happy hour then retreated to our respective "homes" with a promise to meet in the morning for lunch and a tour of Woodford Reserve Distillery in nearby Versailles - pronounced "Ver sales" here in Kentucky......
The campground is fairly empty but I'm sure it will fill later in the week. There are so many things we all want to do while we're here. I wonder how many we'll get to? Bourbon Distillery tours, Shaker Village, Horse Park visit, Thoroughbred Breeding Farm tours, morning training sessions (gallops) at famous Keeneland Racetrack, not to mention the American Saddlebred Horse show, the Kentucky Mountain Horse Show, the German Shepherd Working Dog show all right here at the park....I'm exhausted just thinking about what do do next!

ReplyDeleteI'll add one more item to your agenda: Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. They are located in Lexington, and the ale is aged in bourbon barrels--and my husband says it is the best beer he has ever had in his life. They don't sell it in
ReplyDeletethe West at all--and it's something like 10% alcohol content so watch out! But you should try it--we are visiting in DC and my husband will be happily stocking up. Even here, it can be difficult to get without ordering it by the case from Total Wine. Ron parcels it out--one bottle to savor in the evening. If you guys like beer, you should definitely add this to your tours! Have Fun!
